During the 19th century, the village became an Erie Canal town featuring Lock 24. Every year boaters from around the country sail into the village as they explore the canal and dock at local marinas. Boat tours of the river are available. During the summer months, main attraction concerts, events, and fireworks are held at Paper Mill Island alongside the canal and the Seneca.
Baldwinsville is also home to Beaver Lake Nature Center, part of the Onondaga County Parks. The Center features beautiful vistas of the Lake, summer hiking trails & winter cross-country skiing.
